Satya Yuga is roughly translated as the “Golden Age,” or the Age of Truth. According to some texts, Satya Yuga is one of four ages that cycle endlessly: Satya Yuga, a time of intrinsic goodness and spiritual connection; Treta Yuga, the diminishing of human power and a turning toward materialism; Dvapara Yuga, the waning of divine intellect and a movement toward pleasure-seeking; and Kali Yuga, where humans reject a connection with spirit and instead embrace greed, animosity, and self-interest. While we are in the Kali Yuga, some texts suggest it is possible for people to begin embracing the characteristics of the next age, which is the restarting of the cycle with the Satya Yuga.
